WiFisense
description
WiFisense is a wearable object - a purse - that scans for the presence of WiFi (802.11) networks wherever you go. It detects the networks' signal strength and whether they are password protected. When WiFisense finds a network, it uses patterns of light to announce its availability, quality and accessibility.
On a regular walk through the city you pass through many wireless networks. Some of these networks are open and available for anyone to use. As someone on the go, with a mobile lifestyle and a laptop, it could be useful to know when you are in the presence of such networks.
Instead of detecting networks by stumbling over your laptop or relying on warchalking affecionados and wardrivers, WiFisense is a wearable scanner for wireless networks. Take advantage of the ubiquity of an emerging technology and use it to augment your daily life through ambient perception of computing.

Agora descobri que existem umas feiras de galerias. Tipo aquelas que tem no anhembi de mamãe e bebê. Teve a ARCO agora em Madrid e agora vai ter uma outra em Tokyo.
Quem se interessar e tiver alguns milhões de yens para gastar vai lá. Eu adoro os artistas japoneses e é sempre de se esperar alguma novidade envolvendo arte e tecnologia.

Once a year Intel Research hosts their "Open House" featuring many of our research projects with interactive demonstratons, posters, and prototypes. This year the Urban Atmospheres group at Intel Research will be debuting a project in collaboartion with other researchers at Intel and UC Berkeley on personal mobile enviromental sensors and tools.

The lab is located just off the UC Berkeley campus at 2150 Shattuck Avenue (right across from the Berkeley BART station) in the penthouse suite. The open house will include refreshments, demos of key research projects, and lots of posters and opportunities to meet students, faculty, and researchers.
Intel's Berkeley Lab is one of a small network of university labs started in 2001 with a mission to perform collaborative off-roadmap research with key academic institutions. Most of the work in the lab is governed by a contract called the open collaborative research agreement to promote close cooperation between Intel and university staff. The lab currently houses 14 full-time Intel researchers and many students.
Some of the lab's past work included early activity in sensor networks, the development of the Planet Lab distributed systems test bed, declarative distributed systems, and technology for emerging regions. This year the open house will feature our current research in a variety of areas including:
modernization of communication APIs for internet services
writing scalable and correct programs for parallel computers
developing new approaches to simplify secure distributed computing systems
results of telemedicine deployments in Ghana
mobile environmental sensing and cititizen action
electrically steerable antennas
building high-speed routers out of commodity parts
presenting short films on sustainability
creating efficient algorithms for everyday sensing and learning

AUTRMX at BEEF in Bangkok
Dear all,
I am very pleased to announce my new upcoming exhibition at BEEF 5 (Bangkok Experimental Film festival) during 25-39 of March in Bangkok and after it will travel around Thailand, to the cities of Phuket, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Mahasarakham and Phitsanulok.
